I never would have imagined that Opium would make a comeback but what do you know, here I am writing about the second flanker to the cult scent – Black Opium Nuit Blanche (read about the first one here).
This latest version is even ‘younger’ than the previous one, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it the last few weeks. It’s bold (but not overwhelmingly so), feminine and sexy, but there’s enough softness to make it very wearable. Aside from the somewhat intoxicating fragrance (really, how many times can a girl smell their own arm before it’s weird?), I’m very much in love with the bottle. It’s black, sparkly and it has a rose gold cap – there’s really not much to fault.
Officially the notes are rice (??), bourbon pepper, orange blossom, peony, coffee, vanilla, sandalwood and musk. The concept behind the fragrance is a never ending night full of possibilities and excitement. What it actually smells like to me is a creamy, warm floral fragrance with a hints of citrus, woods and musk. It’s a gorgeous scent and it’s one of the few times I get the concept behind a fragrance, because I would describe it as an exciting scent – I’m 80% sure my heart starts beating a little faster when I spritz this on before a night out.
If you’re in the market for a new fragrance I would recommend giving Black Opium Nuit Blanche a sniff. From R830, available at department stores.
