I’m not one to exaggerate, but the stains these L’Oreal Infallible Lip Color swatches left behind have been on my arm for 2 x 24 hour days now. That’s one bath, two showers, and friction from long sleeves amongst other things. Sure, lips are pretty different and eating, drinking, lip-licking and snogging will absolutely have an effect but my point is that I usually can’t be arsed by lippies, and these have definitely left a lasting impression.
They’re available in 13 shades, and at R180 they’re quite peculiarly priced – they’re touching high end if you ask me. But then the quality is also high end if you ask me, so go forth and ignore the fact that L’Oreal is a mid range brand. It also boasts that it’s enriched with Hyaluronic Gel to provide lasing moisture and comfort, which would be FANTASTIC with such a long wearing colour. I haven’t tested it extensively enough to judge this, but the couple of times I have it was pretty comfortable.
As you might have figured by now, you apply the colour side with the gloss-like applicator, wait until it dries on your lips like a coat of paint, then smooth things over with some of the balm on the other end. You can reapply balm during the day, as needed. If you reapply any other balm over the colour, make sure it doesn’t contain enzymes or aha’s – this makes it crumble off in a rather ugly way (haven’t tried it with this one, but with others it has).
Lastly, I’m feeling very insecure about the name of this product. IS IT REALLY L’OREAL INFALLIBLE LIP COLOR? I don’t know. The very, very patient PR lady (waves at Yolanda) assured me that it is. I can’t find a google image to confirm it – there are half a dozen OTHER L’Oreal Infallible lip products though. The products arrived as you see them there, and the bloody name’s not on it. Nor is it on the pdf with (very little) info I got on it. Nor on the local L’Oreal FB page. So I’m pretty weirded out about it right now. If anyone sees this product and its name in a store, PLEASE put me out of my misery – I’m going to feel pretty dof if it’s called something different.
In stores already, RRP R180.
