In my travel makeup bag

in my makeup bag

I’ve mentioned before that I don’t use a makeup bag all that often – I have two large organisers that sit on a table in my beauty room, and I work from there. I recently went away for a week and had to pack a decent(ish) makeup bag for the first time in ages, so I thought I’d give you a quick look into what I chose to take along.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Stay-in-Place Makeup (see my detailed review and lengthy opinion on DW Light and the other DW foundations here) and Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Flawless Wear Concealer is my current complexion duo. DW Light is indeed undetectably light, but you can still build it up a little should you need to. The concealer is probably the best all-rounder I’ve used in a long time – it works equally well to disguise under-eye circles, redness and dark marks and it does.not.budge.

After a brief flirtation with a few other products I’ve reconciled with my beloved MAC Mineralize Blush in New Romance (more details here). It’s the most perfect shimmery pinky-peach shade anyone can wish for. Combined with that I still can’t get enough of the Physicians Formula Nude Wear Touch of Glow palette in Light. So much of shimmery, glowy goodness (more details here).

For my eyes I took my trusty Smashbox 24HR Photo Finish Shadow Primer, my Urban Decay Naked II Palette, CK One Liquid Liner and MAC Kohl liner. My new favourite mascara is hands down Esteé Lauder Sumptuous Infinite – man, the stuff is brilliant. I also packed the L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper, which has grown on me since I first had a very luke warm first impression to it in this video. On my lips I used whatever I had rolling around in my handbag.

My final item is MAC Fix+ Spray – something I only started using a couple of months ago for the very first time. I’m not convinced that it makes my makeup last any longer, but I love how it takes the edge off powder products especially. Fix+ Spray manages to get rid of that ‘I just applied a load of product to my face’ look and instead leave you with a softer, ever so slightly lived-in look. Your makeup still looks pristine, but as if you applied it a couple of hours ago and everything has had time to settle.

And there you have it – a basic yet very comprehensive makeup bag. Are any of my go-to items in your makeup bag as well? I’d love to know what your staple makeup products are!

Great product choice. Also totally obsessed with the Physicians Formula shimmer brick, so great (surprisingly) x

Thank you 🙂 Most of their shimmery shadows and blushes that I’ve tried are good – it’s definitely their strong point!
