I discovered Gliss Liquid Silk (the light pink range) a while ago and was quite impressed with it – especially the treatment mask. I recently had a large chunk cut off my hair though, which means that I can play around with different formulations a bit more now – everything doesn’t have to be ultra super nourishing any more.
I was recently given the Marrakesh oil & Coconut, as well as the Ultimate Repair with Liquid Keratin ranges to try out. Ultimate Repair is great if you have dry/damaged/curly/over processed hair, and it smells like something between coffee and shea butter. It’s super nourishing so I couldn’t use the shampoo daily, but I love both the conditioner and the treatment mask (the mask, by the way, is effective after only 1 minute, so it easily slots into a morning shower routine). There’s also a Repair & Gloss Bi-phase oil treatment, which I love using for it’s smoothing superpowers – but ONLY on the ends, otherwise I’ll have hair a la brylcreem before I leave home in the mornings.
The Marrakesh oil & Coconut range is intended for less dry, more normal hair, so the formulations are a lot lighter. It smells divine – there’s some coconut-smell in there, and I’m not a coconut fan, but it works, somehow. I enjoyed using the Shampoo and the Express Repair Leave-in Conditioner the most – the shampoo because it left my hair shiny and bouncy; and the Express Repair Conditioner because I could spritz it on after every wash to detangle and add shine without making my hair oily. There was nothing wrong with the Conditioner or Moisture Mask either, I just preferred the more nourishing formulas of Ultimate Repair.
Schwarzkopf Gliss hair products are available from Clicks and now also supermarkets. Shampoos and Conditioners are R48 (250ml), Treatment jars are R80, and other treatments and serums are between R70 – R80.
