Have you ever used a tinted moisturiser? My first encounter with one left me feeling a whole lotta meh, so I had no interest in them until I stumbled across Elizabeth Arden’s Pure Finish Mineral tinted moisturiser.
Do remember that a foundation and a tinted moisturiser are miles apart, so don’t expect the latter to conceal or cover imperfections. What you can expect from this one is a light, powder-like feel, a more uniform skin tone, and a mattifying effect. I use this over my day cream, but oilier skinned folks will get by on this alone.
Aside from sporting the sleek, stylishly understated-type packaging that I love (which means it can be in your handbag without you looking like a prima donna that carries her whole vanity case with her), it was given a special mention at this year’s Prix D’Excellence awards:
“This is to certify that Elizabeth Arden pure Finish Mineral Tinted Moisturizer has been awarded a Marie Claire South Africa Prix D’Excellence De La Beaute 2011 Citation – Make-up product.”
Furthermore, it was also listed in Women’s Health’s top 44 beauty products every woman should own. I’ve had some fun with the versatility of this product – the colour I have is Light 02, and it’s a shade or so darker than my foundation (you can do that with tinted moisturisers) which warms up the complexion. As well as on it’s own, I have used it both over and under foundation – because rules are made to be broken, of course.
Lastly, this baby is actually good for your skin – it is oil free, talc free and fragrance free – and is infused with microlight minerals, anti-oxidants and vitamins, all rounded off by an SPF15.
Pure Finish Mineral Tinted Moisturiser is available in four shades, and suggested retail price is R235 for 50ml
