Maybelline Bold Mattes

If you like your lipstick sheer and subtle you might just as well close this tab and move right along – Maybelline Bold Mattes is anything but.

While the packaging looks largely unimpressive, the contents is exactly the opposite – think vivid, bright colours that go on smoothly with just one or two swipes. I would say it’s in the mid-level of mattes – not too drying with a good dose of creaminess. This means it won’t last all day but I get a good few hours of wear out of it and touching up is fuss-free.

There are six shades available locally in a mishmash of pinks, corals and reds. While I’m still not great at the art of having lipstick on my mouth, I find these guys fairly easy to wear – they don’t stick so well that they end up crumbling off if you forget to reapply them (hangs head in shame in memory of RiRi Woo faux pas), but they do tend to stay where you place them for the most part which greatly reduces my anxiety levels.

Maybelline Bold Mattes are launching this July and you can grab them for R115 each.
