It’s been a while since I’ve felt that I wanted to dedicate an entire post to a single product. A while ago I had a little meeting (with myself, naturally) and came to the conclusion that time and space is becoming increasingly precious, so I only dedicate solo product posts to the ones that really deserve it.
L’Occitane Shower Oil (pronounced locks-eeh-tahn if you were wondering – heard it straight from a French trainer’s mouth) is definitely one of those products. I was terribly disappointed to learn it only comes in an almond variant, as I was imagining citrusy shower oils, geranium shower oils, minty fresh shower oils… but almond definitely hits the spot – at least until I can petition for more variants.
The consistency of the shower oil is rather thick (for an oil, anyway) and it magically transforms to a gently foaming fluid when it comes in contact with wet skin. It feels amazingly luxurious on the skin, and I’ve definitely learnt to love the almond scent – it’s not overwhelming, and it reminds me of petit fours.
Aside from lathering myself in the stuff when I wash, I’ve found that it’s definitely my favourite shaving lubricant these days. The razor glides over my legs like a dream. I at first felt terrible for using such a luxury product on my legs, but since it leaves them smooth, conditioned and irritation-free I’m pretty ok with it now.
It’s definitely on the pricy side for a body product (I hardly spend any money on body products, it all goes to my face and hair), but I’ve used it about 20 times already (+ a couple of shaves) and I’m only at about 1/5th used. There is some product separation, so be sure to shake it up every couple of days.
Get it from L’Occitane boutique stores (Melrose Arch, Hyde Park, V&A, Cavendish, Menlyn, Gateway shopping centres) and online for R295 (250ml), R495 (500ml pump bottle), R420 (500ml refill).
I’ve now tried my hardest to upload a picture, but the blog isn’t letting me. So use your imagination or look at the picture here.
