FITE Feedback = Fuzzy Feeling

I was super impressed when I received a mail from FITE last night (details here if you don’t know what FITE is), informing me that my donation has been allocated, and included some details about the benificiary.

Not sure why I’m feeling so impressed with myself since all you do to donate money is buy a Dermalogica product, but a good feeling it is indeed. Maybe the small acts do add up after all.

More about your entrepreneur(s):

Bhekisile is 50 years old. She is married and has 5 children between the ages of 15 and 30. Only one of her children now attends school. She also looks after 4 relatives staying with her. In the photo above she is raising her hand. Bhekisile has been in this business for 2 years. She sells matches, candles, paraffin, and phone airtime from her home in Eshowe, South Africa. She also earns income from the government’s child supportgrant. She requested this loan through WDB and KIVA to buy matches, candles, paraffin and airtime. She says that the main challenges to her business are customers who buy on credit and then refuse to pay. In five years time, she would like to see her business grow and have more clients, which will result in making more profit for her business. She says that the extra income from this loan will help her renovate her home and buy a car for her kids. She appreciates WDB and Kiva for helping her and hopes to achieve more.
