Five Favourites: Current Bathroom Products

A lot of products work their way through my bathroom – some get rejected after day three and other get used till the very last drop. Here’s a peek into the products I’m currently using and loving.

LUSH Ultrabland Facial Cleanser

I’m back on the Ultrabland wagon – my skin does really well on it as it gives a really deep cleanse while simultaneously soothing and nourishing the skin. I wrote a little more on it here if you’re keen on some more info.

Soap & Glory The Fab Pore 2 in 1 Mask

I’ve been a S&G body fan since the first time I used their Breakfast Scrub, but this is the first skincare product of their that I’ve used. It’s a dual-action purifying and exfoliation mask that I use once a week to rejuvenate (you can use it more often if you have problem skin) and I love how fresh and minty it is. It leaves my skin feeling silky-smooth and bright – I’m definitely a fan.

Their secret? An encapsulated AHA + BHA combo. There are some small beads in the mix as well, but I just apply and remove so they don’t bother me (I’m anti-scrub, you can read more about that here).

Soap & Glory Flake Away

This is my second Soap & Glory body scrub and if I had my way theirs would be the body scrubs I buy myself every month – not possible because they’re not available in SA but hey, a girl can dream. Flake Away smells a little softer and more fruity than The Breakfast Scrub and the grains might be a little smaller too – not 100% sure as my other one was finished already so I couldn’t compare. I can’t quite pick a favourite, I love both.

Kerastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Smooth-In-Motion Shampoo

Such an interesting concept – the clever guys in white coats at Kerastase recognises that any type of hair can be unmanageable, and they’re aiming to give us moveable and weightless hair that’s manageable. It seems like the star ingredient is Morpho-Keratine that restores flexibility to the core of the hair shaft, and weightlessly discipline the outer fiber for movement and frizz protection.

Around R270 from selected salons, there’s a stockist locator here.

Elvive Fibrology Thickening Masque

I’m working my way through all the half-used tubs and tubes of hair treatments, and I’m not sure why I didn’t finish this when I received it a year ago. It makes my hair really bouncy and fresh-looking, and I’ve been using it instead of conditioner for the past week or so with great results.

Around R80 from retailers.

I got the 9 to 5 cleanser from Lush and also quite like it. Sounds similar to the ultrabland, but I may just go and read to see what the differences are.

I love reading about the products, but then my heart sinks when I read they’re not available in SA. 🙁
