It’s that time of the year – you know, time for another Essie seasonal collection. This time round it’s the Fall 2015 Leggy Legend collection and let me tell you, I’m not unhappy with it. As per usual there are six colours, and I like at least half of them enough to sneak them into my to-keep stash. Scroll down for an overview and my take on the shades.
Bell Bottom Blues is an inky midnight blue with some very fine shimmers running throughout. I generally prefer my nail polishes without frosted/shimmer effects, but I’m tempted to nudge this one into my to-keep pile too because it looks really dramatic and whimsical at the same time.
Next in the lineup is Frock and Roll and oh my goodness do I love it. It’s a badass gunmetal-meets-purple shade with fine silver and what looks like baby pink glimmers in it. I can’t wait to try this one on my nails!
I may or may not have let out a little squeal when I inspected In The Lobby up close. I’m forever looking for vampy but-not-quite-black nail polish shades that aren’t just another deep shade of ox blood, and this one is a winner. It’s simultaneously pretty and dramatic – the colour is somewhere between purple and red wine.
The star attraction of the rock-chick themed autumnal collection is supposed to be Leggy Legend but I’m just not feeling it. It’s a yellow copper/bronze shade, and I’m just not sure which skin tones and which outfits it’s going to suit.
Next up is With the Band, which went into my keep stash faster than you can say perfect brick red. It’s a deep red with a hint of brown undertones and I love it to bits.
Color Binge is a beautiful bright coral, but I feel that it’s a shade that’s been done over and over before. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, but if you’re a nail polish junkie you’re bound to have something similar already.
I haven’t had the time to swatch all of these but I’ll be going through my favourites in the next few weeks. Keep an eye on my instagram feed if you want to see them in action.
I’m a little late to the party with this one but Essie also launched a Luxe Effects collection a month or so ago, and I think you’ll still be able to get some of it in stores. It’s made up of four different bar glitter-infused clear polishes that you can wear on their own or over colours.
I’m not big on glitter polish at all but I can’t stop looking at these. I wouldn’t necessarily make them staples in my own collection, but if you’re a fan of glitters they’re definitely worth checking out.
Essie polishes are available from Clicks, Dis-Chem and Foschini stores for around R125 each – I saw the Fringe Luxeffects for R115 on the Dis-Chem site here.
