Last week the Chanel Discover Eyes Collection 2016 launched, and for me the absolute star of the show is the Dimensions de Chanel Mascara.
It’s a definite luxury buy at R855 so I was extra critical while testing it, and I’ve yet to find a fault. Dimensions de Chanel mascara is a true all-rounder – it gives insane length, and it volumises, defines and lifts with a beautiful lash plumping effect. I’ve layered multiple coats and it never gets the dreaded spider-leg look – it somehow just keeps building volume and length without ever looking tacky.
I also really appreciate that it doesn’t flake or crumble throughout the day – it actually feels fairly soft on your lashes – but that it still removes easily enough with micellar water or my regular cleansing oil. For once I think the secret is in the formula, because the brush looks bog standard – it’s a good old fashioned fibre wand.
Lastly, it seems like the formula has a bunch of added beneficial ingredients to care for your lashes – we’re talking humectants and emollients to hydrate, as well as peptides and vitamins to nourish and reinforce.
I also received the La Palette Sourcils de Chanel, a brow duo with a dark and medium powder, but I wasn’t blown away by it. I tested it a few times but I think it’s better suited to people with fine brow hairs that just need a bit of added colour or definition – I do much better when I fill in sparse spots and follow with a brow setting gel or wax.
Other products in the collection include 3 x Les 4 ombres eyeshdow quads and 6 x Stylo Yeux eyeshadow sticks – both of which are favourite formulas of mine so have a peek at the Chanel counter if you’re in the market for some new shades.
The Chanel Discover Eyes 2016 collection launched last week, and products are priced from R790 (Stylo Yeux and Les 4 Ombres) to R915 (Palette la Sources de Chanel).
