Cosmetic brands I wish we have in South Africa: I’ve made a list

I’m not into all of that sending it out into the universe bullshit, but there are still so many brands I’d like to use before I’m old and wrinkled. If these guys don’t come to the table soon, I’d have to either (a) do more online shopping or (b) get into some serious travelling.

NARS

NARS is such a cult brand, and I have heard rumours – but at this stage all is unconfirmed. Obviously everyone else in the universe has now used their blush in cult shade Orgasm, but they have such a huge collection that I’m annoyed every time I go onto their website. I seriously covet The Multiple in a couple of shades – It’s a solid stick for cheeks, eyes, lips and even body; it looks like my dream highlighter blush combo. Then there are there award winning primers, foundations and eye shadows. See, now I’m annoyed again.

Butter London Nail Polish

They have lip gloss too, but I can’t be bothered about that. I also can’t tell you what would make this nail polish better than others, the packaging and colours just look great.

e.l.f. (eyes, lips & face)

This budget brand has cool-looking products starting at $1 in the US – not the crap stuff, but shimmer creams, eye shadow duos, etc. I am curious about the quality, but then brands like Essence, Catrice, LA Girl and Palladio has shown us that budget cosmetics can come in at decent quality too – your bound to find items you like from those ranges. I’d love to try their brushes, cream eye liner pots, and just about everything else I see on their website, mind you.

Laura Mercier

Such opulence. Their bath products look amazing, as does their baked eyeshadow palettes and lip stain pots. Oh, and the beautiful colours their cream eye liner pots are available in. Definitely towards the luxury end of the price range (as is NARS, fyi), but… sigh.

Laura Mercier AMber Vanilla bath
Laura Mercier Amber Vanilla Honey Bath goods… I can deal with that. I also saw a Pistachio body scrub that looks divine.

Shu Uemura

This Japanese brand holds such an appeal to me. I’d love to try their cleansing oils, which have pretty much earned cult status. According to the website, one bottle is sold every 7 seconds. I also understand that the Shu eyelash curler is better that any other, and their hand crafted brushes, eye shadow palettes and lip glosses have a good reputation too.

Can you say FUN? A Karl Lagerfeld/Shu Uemura collaboration. Image via Beautezine, click through if you’d like to see more – it really is makeup porn.

Urban Decay

Yes, if you don’t have it yet you’re bound to have heard of the Naked and Naked 2 eyeshadow palettes. I also like the look of their eyelid primers, Glide-on eye pencils, Glide-on shadow pencils and concealer sticks.

Tarte

For their LipSurgence lip tints, waterproof cream eyeshadow, solid cheek stain and BB cream/primer combo.

Too Faced

This brand has a ‘Return of Sexy’ palette with 15 wearable eyeshadow colours – I have a strong suspicion that if you have this one, you won’t need much else. Their Snow Bunny bronzer looks gorgeous, and the 3-way Lash Lining Tool needs a spot in my makeup bag.

Have I missed anything?

YES, yes and Yes! I’ve been waiting for and wanting e.l.f, Too Faced, Urban Decay & Nars to come to S.A. A girl can only dream…

Judging by the brands that DID come to the party in the past year and a half, I’m positive that we’ll see some of these at least!

NARS Orgasm blush disappointed the hellin out of me. I used to own an e.l.f. eyelid primer that I bought for piss on eBay; AMAZING! If you buy just one thing from Urban Decay, make it their eye shadows. The pigmentation and ‘glidage’ is ridic. What colours are you wearing right now? Going to snap up a Too Faced palette for you online. They’re actually a bit random but the packaging is so cute. Every girl just has to own one at some point in her life x x

I am obsessed with Laura Mercier! The tinted moisturizers look awesome! Depending on what shades you’re into, the Urban Decay Naked Palette looks freakin’ perfect!

Everything from Laura M looks SO luxurious, I just want to kit out my entire bathroom with it. And I think the Naked palette will work for just about anyone, regardless of what shades you’re into… x

Ahhh, I’m a South African, now residing in Canada! E.L.F is everywhere in Canada and I decided to give it a go. The BEST product from their line is the Mineral Primer!!!! It’s like putting on magic before the foundation!!! As fo the other products, not so good, it’s just average.

Urban Decay is fantastic! Especially the Naked3 pallet!! Some of the other products like NARS is super expensive!

Hope you guys have access to all those great brands soon!! Follw me on instagram if you’d like (daisy_kind) I’m a frequent Sephora shopper/shopaholic!

    Hugs xx
