Clarins Eau des Jardins body products; an expansion of the range.

I’m admittedly a winter person, but there’s an undeniable excitement that comes with the change to the warmer season – the smells in the air, long-hidden body parts that are revealed, and balmy evenings spent outside.

I’ve also realised that a lot of my fragrance memories are connected to summer – Jasmine (and any herbaceous smells, because heat makes them so much more prominent), warm tar, feint┬ábody odour (yes really, it reminds me of carefree, exciting high school years and rugby-playing crushes that could make your heart skip a beat with just a glance in your direction)… And then perfumes linger longer and smell a little stronger on warm skins too.

My point is (have a little patience, I do have one) that this is the kind of fragrance that reminds me of summer memories (??). Ja, I’m a little weird… But it perks me up and gets me geared up and ready for the day. I received the shower gel to review, and now that I’ve passed the halfway mark on my bottle, I keep it in my weekend kit so that I can connect it to special occasions and events. It’s going with me to Cape Town in a couple of weeks for the wedding of two dear friends. Told you, I’m an oddball…

Clarins Eau de Jardins contains a whole bunch of essential oils: from the obvious uplifting ones like lemon, grapefruit and bergamot, to spearmint, patchouli, vetiver and cedarwood. Its enriched with plant extracts of blackcurrant bud (soothing), beech bud (moisturising) and is available in a shower gel (R275 for 150ml), body cream (R410 for 200ml) and treatment fragrance* (R450 for 100ml).

*Being a treatment fragrance, it not only smells awesome but it has skincare- and mood-boosting benefits as well. It is also alcohol free, so if you accidentally get some sun exposure (because you don’t tan, right?), you won’t end up with additional pigmentation/irritation on the spot where you sprayed. And amazing as it is, it doesn’t beat this one – my all time fave. In an ideal world, I’ll use one at night and one in the mornings.
