It’s time for a Chanel collection again – this one is the Chanel 2014 Summer Makeup Collection.
If you wonder why it’s a summer collection, it’s because Chanel doesn’t wait to bring collections to SA when they’re seasonally appropriate. We pretty much get them when the rest of the world gets them, while some brands wait 6 months or longer to bring seasonal collections to SA. That’s why you’ll see some Fall/Winter 2013 collections currently being released – they were launched in the Northern hemisphere between September-November last year for their Fall/Winter.
Back on topic. The Chanel Summer 2014 Makeup Collection (or Reflets D’ete De Chanel if you’re feeling French) is about transparency and vibrant colour. I never mind summer collections in winter because they always offer some vibrance, luminosity and general brightness that is much needed come mid winter.
This collection doesn’t seem to follow the semi-standard recipe that I’ve come to know. The star of the Summer 2014 collection is definitely the Le Vernis nail polishes, closely followed by brighter than bright mascaras (which I’ll never use, to be honest). There’s also a good variety of lip glosses, some Illusion D’Ombre shadows, a creme blush and an eyeliner. The full product list with prices is below:
