It’s time! Chanel Collection Superstition for Autumn 2013 (European Autumn, that is) – is launching in South Africa in a couple of weeks’ time on August 16th. I can’t remember the last time I met a Chanel makeup collection I didn’t like and what do you know; I’m already obsessing over this one too.
Chanel Collection Superstition gives a nod to Gabrielle Chanel’s superstitious habits, and the tokens and charms she surrounded herself with. In her Paris apartment the number 5 was often repeated, and hidden in the glass charms of chandeliers. Talismans and charms were symmetrically displayed in pairs as she believed in luck; and ears of wheat (a symbol of good fortune) were repeatedly displayed too.
These gestures and habits are reinterpreted in a fun, light hearted way in this collection. Because the pairing of object is my favourite Madame Chanel fun fact, the part I love most is that the 6 lipsticks in the collection were each given a matching crème blush to form pairs. If that’s not perfection, I don’t know what is!
The collection consists of the following:
Le Blush Crème De Chanel, R440
New product, available in 6 shades: 61 Destiny, 62 Prèsage, 63 Révélation, 64 Inspiration, 65 Affinité, 66 Fantastic. Fantastic is the only shade that’s a limited edition.
Rouge Coco Lipstick, R390
55 Icone, 57 Mystique
Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick, R390
85 Secret, 86 Instinct (limited edition), 87 Rendez-vous, 88 Esprit
Les 4 Ombres, R615
Eyeshadow Quad in 43 Mystère – sadly it’s a limited edition
Ombre Essentielle, R355
Two limited edition eyeshadow singles – 99 Hasard and 101 Gri-Gri
Stylo Yeux Waterproof, R295

Le Volume de Chanel, R385
Mascara in 104 Khaki Précieux
Le Vernis, R290
3 Nail polish shades in 589 Elixir, 591 Alchimie (limited edition) and 601 Mysterious.
I’m glad to see that the majority of the products are permanent additions, but I am sad about the eyeshadows being available for a limited time only – I saw them up close; and both the quad and Gri-Gri are gorgeous. I have a couple of products to play with and I honestly can’t wait – I’m ridiculously excited to try those blushers. I’ll do another post in a week or so when I’ve had chance to give them a go.
