If you let me loose in a Chanel perfumery, the classic Chanel No 5 is not the first fragrance I aim for. Let’s not fool ourselves, if I have a seven figure voucher in my hand it’s definitely one of the first five I’ll choose after repeatedly screaming “I’m HOME!” and spinning in circles with my arms outstretched; but I have great love for other Chanel fragrances like Coco Noir, Coco Mademoiselle and two of the Chanel Chance scents. And don’t forget Bleu de Chanel (a male scent). Grrrrrr.
The Chanel No 5 Toiletries collection is pure luxury and together with the Christmas makeup collection (I’ll show you some items soon) it reminds me of very grown up year-end and Christmas parties. The ones where you wear something slightly shimmery or sparkly, match your nail polish to your lipstick and take the stronger, more sophisticated perfumes from the back of the shelf and go for it.
I don’t go to many formal functions but growing up in an Air Force household my mom basically dressed up three times a week every year from the beginning of October till mid December. For these functions she always favoured her ‘stronger’ perfumes (she still does, and it suits her) and I will always associate these smells with glamour and warm summer nights . I think this summer I’ll dabble in it myself on evenings out, but I’ll start with these guys as the heavy scents don’t always wear equally well on me.
The Chanel No 5 Toiletries collection consists of three divisions – The Bath, The Body and The Senses
