You haven’t seen the full potential of your face until you’ve tinted your eyebrows (and eyelashes, for that matter). I’m not saying everyone should walk around with pitch black eyebrows, but there are great benefits to a brow tint.
I tint my own eyebrows every couple of months not to darken them (they’re already black), but to colour all the fine baby blonde brows inbetween that are otherwise invisible. Even the darkest pair of eyebrows benefits from this as it makes your brows look so much fuller and more dense. When my brows are tinted the gap I have on my left eyebrow is about 50% less visible, and I hardly ever use any brow filling products.
While I’m at it I’ll sometimes paint the excess tint onto my eyelashes with a mascara wand as this is another beauty trick that makes a huge difference to a makeup-free face – especially on the lower lashes in my case. I wouldn’t advise this if you’re not confident in your abilities, as I often have burny eyes afterwards. When I remember I rather make an appointment to have it done professionally when I go for a wax every six weeks.
While eyebrow tint is fairly readily available in pharmacies, my firm favourite is the Eylure Single Application Brow Tint Kit (R85 from Dis-Chem). While it may not be the most economical option it’s super easy to use and I love that you can just squash everything back into the box and bin it – tint stains EVERYTHING it touches.
If you have blonde eyebrows (and/or if you’re nervous), do one brow at a time and remove the colour after 30 seconds. If it’s too light you can reapply immediately – there’s more than enough tint in the box. I just leave mine on for about five minutes as I’m fairly certain the tint lasts longer if you give it more time to develop.
