In the interest of transparency, I’d like to clarify how things work for me regarding press samples (the products that are sent to me for consideration), advertisements, paid posts etc. You can read a slightly more personal take on how I feel about it here.
1. The greater majority of the products and treatments I write about are sent to me by cosmetic brands and their PR companies, and I do not pay for these products. I am under no obligation to review or feature all products I am sent. I’d say at the moment 1/4 of the products I receive make it onto the blog.
These products sometimes come with small (sometimes odd) gifts not related to the product – yesterday I received a rose bush, for example, and I have at least a dozen notebooks if anybody needs one – but I do not get paid to feature them.
2. Paid for/sponsored posts are clearly marked as such. I only accept payment for sponsored content/campaigns that is relevant to my readers.
3. If you ever see a banner ad, please know that someone paid for that space (duh, though).
If anything, it’s even more personal than the blog, and if I ever go the route of sponsored/paid for tweets/fb updates in future, it will be clearly indicated in the update too.
Happy blogging and happy reading to everyone!
