A couple of new launches arrived for me in the past couple of weeks, but I’ve been reeediculously busy. I thought I’ll do a combined post on the big ones to catch up.
Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish
Maybelline has just launched a new range of 30 nail polishes in the Color Show family. I’ve seen a couple of them, but from what I could gather from the images of the rest is that the colours are really bold and pigmented for the most part. I haven’t swatched them yet, but I had a look at the brush and I can tell that the flat, elongated bristles are going to be awesome (you can quote me on that).
Another awesome thing is the price – at R40 for 7ml it’s a steal by SA standards. I’ve never finished a bottle of nail polish before it became thick and unusable, so all polishes can come in 3ml bottles for all I care.
Garnier Ultra Lift Serum + Cream
This Ultra Lift serum and moisturiser are swirled together in a pump bottle (the moisturiser is actually suspended in the serum) – meaning you can actually get the benefits of both products without compromising either. The only ingredients mentioned is a Retinol derivative, and I also saw Glycerin, Shea Butter and Silicon on the ingredient list – these will add to a hydrated, smooth effect. As I can’t test this one myself, I’ll look for a volunteer and get some feedback. RRP R160 for 50ml, on shelves early May.
Redken Curvaceous for Curly Hair
I love that for once the focus is on putting the oomph back in curls instead of trying to straighten them. I also love that just as the products are very versatile, and that there are a good range of options available. The conditioner, for example, you can either leave in or rinse out depending how dry/coarse your hair is. The range of styling/finishing products are also quite diverse, giving curly sues some options with regards to texure preference etc.
I of course decided to try the sham and con when it arrived, but I won’t lie, it’s most certainly not for fine, mostly straight hair. The first couple of washes were ok and my hair was super soft and had zero frizz, but then quite a bit of buildup started forming and I looked like a cow licked me. Can’t blame a girl for trying to make the most of Redken press samples 🙂
Exclusive to hair salons, priced from R290.
Crabtree & Evelyn Tarocco Orange
Flip, this stuff smells absolutely amazing. I like citrus scents so much already, and trust C & E to turn good old orange into an über sophisticated scent of perfection. Aside from Blood Orange, there’s also Sage, Eucalyptus, Juniper and Cucumber extracts in the mix. I’m so in love with the Little Luxuries gift set I received, I’ve been keeping it on my desk to smell regularly but I haven’t used any of it.
Exclusive to Crabtree & Evelyn stores and their website, in stores from this weekend.
