Beauty News #34 – Bioderma, Organics & Garnier

I’m not going to lie, I’ve been using Organics Kids Funtangly Detangling Spray on my own hair because it smells too good not to – Imagine the sweetest apple scent with the slightest hint of bubblegum and you’ve hit jackpot. As an added bonus (or primary function if you insist) it’s a really good detangler that doesn’t make my hair oily. Score!

Get it for around R45 from supermarkets and pharmacies.

My beloved Garnier Micellar Water is now available in a nifty 125ml bottle, which looks positively tiny next to the full sized 400ml version. I still maintain that I can’t really tell the difference between most of the micellar waters on the market, so might as well go for the most affordable option then. They’ve also added Micellar Cleansing Wipes to the lineup which I honestly haven’t tried yet because I don’t get along with wipes all that well in general. I will still give them a go and report back if I love them.

The new Bioderma Photoderm Max SPF50 sunscreens are the business. I’ve been using the clear and light tint Aquafluid versions and I’m sold on both. They’re light milk formulas with a dry touch feel that I can really appreciate in summer when even the thought of a thick day cream is enough to break me out in a sweat. An added bonus is that you can apply makeup immediately afterward – there’s no drying/setting time required.  I can’t recommend this highly enough if you don’t like the feel of heavy products on your skin.

R200 each, available from Dis-Chem, Clicks & Dermatologists.

Thank you for the post on the Bioderma sunscreens. I’m so tired of looking for one that’s not oily. I tend to look like an oil slick in summer. ?

I do not use sunscreen at all. I really can’t handle the greasy, oily feeling. I have oily skin, so it just works on my nerves. I will definitely be trying the bioderma out then.

Thanks for the review. And the honesty re: the Micellar water….lol. I was using a more pricey spray and honestly didn’t feel it did much for my face. The Garnier does the job it needs to, so I’m glad to know I don’t need to worry that I’m behind the pack using the cheaper one on the market 😉

You really should try getting into sunscreen, it’s the best anti ageing product there is!

Is this Bioderma sunscreen really new? I have been using it (or a version of it) for years and I keep coming back to it. Or has the product changed somehow? Just find the “light” shade quite dark, and the “normal” gives my face a bit of a pasty look…

These versions launched here in November, although they did have other SPF products before. I found the ‘golden’ way too dark but I can use both the light and clear versions.

I recently settled on the Vichy SPF50 mattifying face fluid after trying various gross sunscreens. It’s light and works under my make-up (some sunscreens make my foundation oxidise). I am very happy with it and I thought I found The One but now I’m tempted to grab the Bioderma sunscreen and do a comparison… I also want to run off and get that Funtangle spray.

I do love Vichy SPF products too, it will be difficult to choose! Might be worth trying & comparing for yourself 🙂 I’m totally keeping the Funtangle just for the smell!

Good to know there’s a smaller bottle Micellar water.☺
