Beauty News #20

Bit of a mixed bag this week so off we go…

Fine-tuning

If you’re reading from a computer you may have noticed a couple of blog tweaks that kicked in over the weekend – the general theme and design is the same, but ratios and spaces have been fine tuned for a smoother, better reading experience. If you read on a tablet/phone, you probably won’t notice much of a difference. Let me know if you have any feedback!

L’occitane Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc

L’Occitane is launching a permanent new addition to their La Collection de Grasse fragrance lineup – Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc (or Iris Blue & Iris White, but I’m going with the swish-sounding French version).

It’s a creamy iris-floral that’s made up of both white and blue irises (amongst other things). I find L’Occitane’s Collection de Grasse very special, with Neroli & Orchid being my favourite so far. I’ll give more details when I have all the info and when I’ve been able to wear it for a couple of days.

Balm Balm Frankincense Cleansing Balm

This little jar of cleansing balm has been on my to-try list for ages, and when I recently got the opportunity I grabbed it. It’s a super-rich balm that just glides over your skin, taking with it any makeup that crosses its path. I don’t find the tiny 30ml jar to be the most practical thing (it’s probably going to last me a month with once a day use), but I do love what’s inside.

R150, get it online from Luhla (I also love their Coconut Cleansing Oil – there’s an ancient review here).

Oh-Lief Natural Body Oil

Every time I use organic body products I wonder again why I would use anything else – our skins are huge organs with the ability to absorb so much of what we apply to it. Might as well give it something that can do no harm since the skin on our bodies have minimal requirements – keep it exfoliated and nourished and you’re good to go (skincare and makeup is another complicated story though, I’ve tried and I can’t get it right with natural/organic only skincare and makeup.

Anyway. Oh-Lief Natural Body Oil (Green Rooibos variant) contains only organic and natural oils and it’s a pleasure to use. It has a nifty spray nozzle so you can cover your whole body and then quickly rub it in – it works well before or after a shower. You can also spritz some into your bath water for a nourishing treat.

R199, buy it online from Oh Lief or find a stockist here.
