Beauty News #17 – Flash Ink, Clinique, Filorga & Essence

So beauty News #16 got sucked up in the void that is a server crash, but I’m back with no 17. Off we go!

Filorga Perfect+ Perfect Skin Serum

Now if I’ve ever heard of a long shot, anything claiming ‘perfect’ skin would be it because let’s face it, that’s a tall order.

The Filorga Perfect+ serum aims at refined skin texture, fewer fine lines, tightened pores, matte appearance and a healthy, golden glow.

I am intrigued so I’ll be testing this when I work my way down my skincare queue. I’m not convinced it’s going to do all the things they’re aiming for, but judging by the ingredients it’s definitely is a good retexturising & revitalising serum – especially for oily skins. There’s a 5-AHA complex, a bunch of vitamins and nutrients, an astringent and mattifier. I’m just always worried that anything that provides a ‘glow’ is going to cause and/or accentuate hyperpigmentation as it needs to interact with your melanocytes, the cells that give your skin its colour.

I’ll look into it more and update when I understand it better. R865 from Edgars and Red Square.

Essence Rock On blush

I dropped this blush into my Clicks basket last week hoping that it would be a pretty, brightening shade and I was rewarded with just that. Quite possibly the best R60 gamble I’ve taken in a long time, the three shades blended together results in a pale but vibrant pink hue. The violet shade might look odd, but it’s a great skin brightener – I’ve seen it with an Inglot blush palette I had way back when (you can see a shoddy pic of it here).

It’s slightly chalky so I reckon it would do best on light and medium skin tones. Around R60, currently in Dischem and Clicks for a limited time.

Flash Ink Metallic Tattoos

I might regret my one ‘real’ tattoo, but I’m very much looking forward to trying out these temorary metallic tattoos from Flash Ink.

I’ve heard a lot of mixed feelings about metallic tattoos and I don’t like all the designs I’ve seen, but I think they look really good when used in the right way. To me they seem fun and a little edgy, and they can definitely add some glam. Keep an eye on my Instagram feed, I’ll be sticking some on soon!

Flash Ink metallic tats are R80 per sheet (there are 11 different sheets as far as I could tell) and they’re available online here.

Clinique Aromatics in White

I went to the very beautiful launch of Aromatics in White last week and even though I grumble the loudest about all white dress codes, it does create a beautiful effect (not that I was dressed in white – don’t own white clothing – but I’m just saying).

After the first sniff of the scent I was intrigued. Yes, there was something that reminded me of my mom (who’s signature scent is Aromatics, much to my dismay), but there’s also a whole lot of things that are different – it’s brighter and more refined, mostly. I’ll wear it for a couple more days and then feature it separately with more details.

It launched as an online exclusive yesterday (over here) and will launch at Clinique counters on February 9th. From R660 (30ml) to R1135 (100ml).

Hi Chantelle, thanks for the post. Glad you are back up and running! Regarding the essence blush, when you say it is brightening, do you still use strictly as a blush?

Hi Christy! Thank you, glad to be back 🙂 Yes, definitely a blush but you can apply it slightly higher than you normally would because it has an almost-highlighting effect. Hope that answers your question?

I adore that blush too! I’ve been trying to move on and use another blush but I find myself applying it before I can stop myself! Thanks for the post – I’m tempted to try the Aromatics in White myself.
