It’s been an exciting week for me in beauty news, so let’s get to it.
Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum
Two weeks ago I attended the launch of the Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum at The Living Room, a beautiful rooftop garden in the Maboneng precinct. The long and short of it is that the serum contains very smart technology to focus on your specific skin concerns.
If this works, it will eliminate the need for a whole lot of unnecessary skin products as it targets texture, fine lines, discolouration AND lack of radiance. I’m not currently able to test it as I’m using two new treatment products already this month, but I’d love to hear if anyone has been able to give it a go yet.
R700 for 30ml, R925 for 50ml available from Clinique counters and online.
Milkshake Volume Solution shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner
I don’t know if it’s just me being daft again, but I’ve never heard of Milkshake hair products before last week. From what I could gather it’s a professional haircare range that’s popular in the UK, and their star ingredients are milk proteins and other nature-sourced ingredients.
The Volume Solution products smell phenomenal – the shampoo and conditioner have a very fresh, clean scent, but in the most amazing way you can possibly imagine. The smell reminds me of having my hair washed at the salon. The leave-in conditioner has a surprising butterscotch/toffee/caramel scent that I really didn’t expect – because it’s called Milkshake and the logos are yellow, I was fearing a banana scent.
Volume Solutions Shampoo, R198, Volume Solutions Conditioner, R210, and Milkshake Leave In Conditioner Spray, R238.

Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof Eyeliner
This is a fun, limited edition release from Bourjois. It was tested by clubbers (hence the name) and it is available in black, glitter black and four fun shades. I received 58 Pink About You (which I’ll only ever wear on my eyes for a dress up party, but I’m very keen to try it on my lips) and 50 Taupe Of The Top, a gorgeous metallic bronze shade.
I’ve tried Taupe Of The Top and it really does stay put for hours and hours and hours. I did notice that the metallic Taupe Of The Top is much softer and creamier than the matte Pink About You, but Pink About You stays put much longer though (which is pretty much all day and night).
R99 from Clicks for a limited time only.
Revlon Age Defying Targeted Dark Spot Concealer Treatment
Sjoe, what a name. If you have serious imperfections to conceal, aim for this one. Dab it onto imperfections (I use it on anything that needs heavy concealing, not just dark marks) for near-full coverage that can be built up to 100% full cover by spending a couple of seconds layering and blending.
R160 from major retailers.
